Singapore Stopover
For many passengers travelling down under, a stop in Asia is very likely but with such a long journey, it's great to get out of the airport and stretch your legs for a couple of days and a stopover in Singapore can help you take a break from the dreaded longhaul flights. Singapore has long been a popular choice for stopovers on the way to Australia and New Zealand and it's so easy to see why. With luxury hotels, numerous quirky bars and restaurants, and a western feel, Singapore remains a great stopover destination. As such, there is an every growing list of things to do in Singapore. If you have children, a first stop should be Sentosa Island and Universal Studios. This fun theme park has heaps to keep the family entertained. From stage shows to themed rides, Universal Studios is certain to keep you occupied. Stay in one of the six hotels at Resorts World Sentosa Island to relax, have fun and take that well needed break from travelling. Back in the city, and a trip up the world famous Marina Bay Sands hotel is another must. With its rooftop infinity pool looking out across the city, the view is simply incredible. Take a dip if you can to appreciate the design and magnitude of this magnificent building. Of course, no trip to Singapore should be with out a shopping trip. The ION Orchard brings together some of the world's best loved brands but for something a little different, head to the Suntec City Mall which was designed with Feng Shui principles and features one of the world's largest fountains. If its lively markets, jump on the MRT to Bugis MRT station and find yourself in Kampong Glam, full of vibrant shops and the Bugis Street Market. WHERE TO STAY Singapore offers a huge range of hotels for stopover stays. If you have children, one of the hotels on Sentosa Island is perfect as you'll end up spending most of your time there anyway. If it's nightlife, culture or shopping you are after, try a stay at the Marina Bay Sands or the Mandarin Oriental for luxury. If your budget can't quite reach, the Park Hotel on Clark Quay is a great central location. |
