Flights to Melbourne

Melbourne, capital of the state of Victoria and one of the fastest growing cities in Australia, is alive with music, culture and that laid-back Australian attitude. Melbourne is famous for its cultural side, with a variety of festivals and events throughout the year.

The Melbourne Cup, hosted on the first Tuesday of November each year, is one of Australia's hottest events. Attracting the likes of Prince Charles and Camilla, Delta Goodrem, Mischa Barton and Ronan Keating, the Melbourne Cup is also one of the world's richest races, with a total prize pot of approximately £4 million.

Music, film and comedy are also well catered for in Melbourne as it hosts a number of different international festivals throughout the year. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is the third largest in the world and if you're travelling to Melbourne in April, is another must-do event.

Outside of the city and Melbourne is the popular base to start an adventure along the famous Great Ocean Road. With stunning scenery including 12 Apostles and Cape Bridgewater, this ocean-side drive will have you in awe of just how beautiful Australia is. With a range of walks and trails throughout the area, the Great Ocean Walk is another way to explore this incredible landscape. Be sure to check out Holiday Great Ocean Road, who offer beautiful accommodation in the heart of the region.

The Yarra Valley is another trip worth enjoying from Melbourne. Complete with steam railway, acres of vineyards and the incredible Mount Dandenong, the Yarra Valley is less than an hour's drive from Melbourne and feels like a completely different place. The SkyHigh Bistro on top of the mountain shouldn't be missed with it's stunning views of the surrounding area and the Melbourne suburbs.

Airlines offering flights to Melbourne include Emirates, China Southern Airlines, Qantas and Malaysia Airlines, each of which offers great fares down under.
