Hong Kong Stopover

Hong Kong is often seen as the perfect stopover city. With a wealth of culture and cuisine in this bustling city, it can feel like a second holiday on the way to your final destination. The main city is split up into two areas, Kowloon and Hong Kong Island (predominentely business). But where would you start in such a vibrant city? Check out our must-dos for your Hong Kong stopover or find out more about Hong Kong International Airport.

24 Hours
Wow! That's a short amount of time, but there's still so much you can fit in.
  • Take the train into the city and head straight for Tim Sha Tsui in Kowloon. It's the perfect stop for taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Tim Sha Tsui promenade attracts locals and tourists with its many shops and restaurants, plus views out to Hong Kong Island.
  • Take the famous Star Ferry ride across Victoria Harbour to Central Star Ferry Pier, making sure to take plenty of photos. Once arrived, head towards the Peak Tram Lower Terminus and take the tram to the top of Victoria Peak for some incredible views out across Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Bay.
  • After running out your memory card, head back down and over to Kowloon for some last minute shopping and food.

Visit Tim Sha Tsui at night to watch the spectacular light display on the Hong Kong Island buildings

48 Hours
Staying an extra day? Then head out to the island of Lantau. In fact Lantau is where Hong Kong International Airport is so it's a great excursion if you don't want to head into the city. Lantau Island is famous for its scenery with beautiful peaks and relaxing beaches. There are a number of walking trails on the island for those who are active and for those with families, it also hosts Hong Kong Disneyland. If Lantau is where you want to stay, there are a number of convenient airport hotels with easy access to the rest of the island.
