Dubai Stopover

Many choose Dubai as their holiday destination for its great beaches, fantastic shopping and numerous activities, but this can all be enjoyed on a Dubai stopover as well, even if you're only in the city for 24 hours.

With Emirates flying to so many destinations, they also encourage passengers to stopover in Dubai at no extra cost to the flights, all you need to add on is the hotel which is easy to do.

BOOK A DUBAI HOTEL NEAR THE AIRPORT
If you have already booked your tickets to Dubai but still need a hotel, take a look at our top three stopover hotels in Dubai:

Things to do on a Dubai stopover

In this sprawling city there's a great deal to do. With some incredible shopping malls (Dubai Mall is the largest in the world by total area), it's easy to spend a lot of time (and money). Mall of the Emirates, located towards Jumeirah Beach, even has an indoor ski slope, the first of its kind in the Middle East and yet another activity for those visiting.

But what many people come to Dubai for is the weather. And where better to enjoy the weather than at one of the city's beaches or waterparks. Jumeirah Beach, with it's beautiful sand and views to the Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah are a popular hotspot for bathers. If the idea of lying on a beach sounds a bit dull, take to one of the waterparks. Both Aquaventure at the Atlantis Hotel or Wild Wadi (pictured) at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel host a range of water slides, wave pools and pool side activities that will keep you entertained. Those with children are also catered for with special children's play areas and slides.

Of course, no stopover in Dubai would be complete without a trip up the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower. If you want to go to the observation deck, be sure to book in advance as 'on the day' prices can be expensive. At the same time, the Atmosphere Bar on the 122nd floor is a good option if you want something a bit more exclusive. This bar and restaurant offers panoramic views of the surrounding Emirate although a minimum charge per couple is in place.

Where to stay on a stopover in Dubai

Depending on what you want to enjoy during your stopover in Dubai, depends on where you should stay. If you're after a beach break, the Jumeirah Beach area is a great option, and while the Mina A'Salam at the Madinat Jumeirah or the Jumeirah Beach Hotel are beautiful hotels right on the beach, the Sofitel Jumeirah Beach can offer some great room rates if booked in advance, and is in a great central location with numerous bars and restaurants close by.

If you're after the culture of the Middle East, staying around the Downtown Dubai area with the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Centrally located, Downtown Dubai has easy access to Dubai International Airport via the Metro.

Taxi's in Dubai are relatively cheap but whichever area you stay, a hotel with a pool is definitely recommended.

To book your Dubai stopover, simply book a multi-stop flight with Emirates or through a travel agent such as Expedia and add on the hotel yourself by looking at Trivago. Getting to and from the airport in Dubai is very easy and a taxi or trip on the metro is no problem.
